Today we’ve finished the floor! Well… almost. The platform was build by Joris Ringers. We put the velostat sensors on it and tested them if the signal was good enough to sense by an arduino. The floor measures 2 by 2 meters. It is made from 1 square meter wooden tiles. On top there will be the 0,50 by 0,50 cm ballet floor tiles with the engraved pattern inspired on the drawing of Merce Cunningham.
While testing we discoverd that there were several joints in the ballet floor which had Velostat under them; a problem for fixing the floor to the platform. This still needs to be fixed. At this moment the dancefloor gives great feedback when a person moves into one of the six ‘hotspots’ in the pattern.
